{"product_id":"schmitz-monadnock-rising","title":"Monadnock Rising","description":"Set amid the rugged hills and shadowy woods of southern New Hampshire, Monadnock Rising explores four legends that echo through its granite landscape. Chocorua begins with an ascent of the eponymous mountain—featuring jagged melodic lines carved like mountain ridges and haunted by the tragic cry of the Native chief said to have leapt from its peak. The Blue Lady drifts through translucent harmonies suggesting the ghostly figure who haunts Vale End at twilight. Madame Sherri’s Castle dances with eccentric flair—its glittering fragments displayed in a waltz-like theme and variations, recalling the vanished world of a flamboyant hostess and her crumbling stone arch. The Devil’s Den is a harrowing muscular rondo with angular rhythms and surprises at every turn, echoing myths that lurk deep underground.\n\nThe bulk of this work was undertaken during my residency at MacDowell in Peterborough, New Hampshire, between May and June of 2025. It is gratefully dedicated to the Ehnes Quartet, who perform the world premiere on March 10, 2026 in Fickling Hall at Mercer University, Macon, Georgia.","brand":"Alias Press","offers":[{"title":"Set","offer_id":45115744059568,"sku":"494-03361","price":0.01,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"Set (download)","offer_id":45115744125104,"sku":"494-03361D-PDF","price":0.01,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0683\/1767\/5696\/files\/MonadnockRisingCover.jpg?v=1779042003","url":"https:\/\/aliaspress.com\/products\/schmitz-monadnock-rising","provider":"Alias Press","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
