Collection: Donald W. McCandless

Donald W. McCandless is a composer, conductor, and music educator, with decades of experience directing bands, orchestras, and choirs. Working with musicians ranging in age from five to ninety-nine has shaped his compositional approach, inspiring him to craft expressive and engaging music for performers and audiences alike. Bands under his direction have received numerous honors, including the prestigious Sudler Cup from The John Philip Sousa Foundation and multiple awards from the Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors, including the National Winner distinction. His ensembles have placed among the top ten finalists in the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band and Honor Full Orchestra competitions, and he has conducted at The Midwest Clinic in Chicago. He holds music degrees from Lee College and the University of Houston and is currently studying composition at Stephen F. Austin State University.
