Tides of Destiny

"Tides of Destiny" follows the musical journey of a corsair, an adventurer on the high seas. The piece begins with the corsair, down on his luck and almost out of time, at the gallows on the beach as the sea sings a mysterious, haunting melody. Loud horns signal the arrival of his crew coming to his rescue. The percussion break sees our hero narrowly evading one again as he makes his way to his ship. The band rejoins the percussion as the ship sets sail for safer harbors. A flowing woodwind interlude hints that romance might be afoot, but as the full band returns, it is obvious that our corsair’s true love is the sea. It was written for the Lamar Summer Band Camp Concert Band II.
