Gillikinese Etude

"Gillikinese Etude" invites listeners and performers on a partial journey through the Land of Oz. Originally a part of “Ozian Symphony,” this piece for solo piano takes us to Gillikin Country in Northern Oz, which holds the most affluent populace and economic power, second only to the Emerald City. The piece explores themes of wealth, with a slight hint of corruptibility. Gillikinese Etude was commissioned by the South Valley Symphony in early March of 2020 with Anthony Quartuccio, Jr. conducting and Kristal Kim on piano.
