Nestled majestically above the river Gwendraeth, Kidwelly Castle rises as a beacon of Wales' resistance and rich history. For two-and-a-half centuries, the Welsh valiantly defended their homeland against the Norman encroachment. Kidwelly Castle embodies the spirit of a nation determined to preserve its identity and autonomy, captivating and inspiring all who visit.

Kidwelly Castle is structured in three movements, each capturing a different aspect of the medieval experience. The opening movement sets the scene with a majestic fanfare reminiscent of a king's procession. The second movement is more reflective, with lyrical passages that suggest the quiet moments of contemplation before a battle. The final movement brings the quartet to a rousing conclusion that celebrates victory and honor.

This trombone quartet, transports listeners to the chivalrous times of the knights of the Roundtable. This piece pays homage to the storied past with majestic and triumphant melodies that evoke images of medieval castles, grand tournaments, and noble quests. Drawing inspiration from the legendary tales of King Arthur and his knights, the composition weaves intricate harmonies and bold motifs that challenge and excite advanced trombonists.
